Proctology / Range of services
Proctology (derived from the ancient Greek word prōktós: anus), deals with the diseases of the rectum. These include diseases of the rectum, the anus and the skin region around the anus.
Symptoms such as itching, pain, bleeding and unwanted stool loss can be symptoms of diseases in the anal area.
In addition to hemorrhoids, common diseases of the rectum include mucosal prolapse (anal prolapse), intestinal prolapse (rectal prolapse), fissures (tears in the mucosa), genital warts (lat. condyloma acuminata), fistulas between the intestine and skin (perianal fistulas), perianal vein thrombosis and skin eczema on the anus.
In my practice, I offer comprehensive and competent advice, diagnostics and therapy of all proctological diseases.
A special focus of mine is on preventive examination for the early detection of cancer by means of high-resolution anoscopy. I have many years of clinical and scientific experience in this area.
The consultation, examination and small surgical interventions under local anesthesia take place directly in my practice. For necessary special examinations (e.g. ultrasound examinations or colonoscopies), I work closely with the established gastrointestinal specialists or specialists of other disciplines.
I perform outpatient procedures under anesthesia in the outpatient surgery centers (OPERA Zumikon or in the Bellaria outpatient surgery center). I perform inpatient procedures at the Hirslanden Clinic or the Clinic in the Park.
